The who & why of Hope Ranch

Mission & Vision

The mission of Hope Ranch is to expand the quality of life through equine-assisted therapy and develop skills critical to future independence. Our vision is to glorify God by integrating community, family and specials needs in a faith-based culture.


Meet the Staff

Maria Matthews
Founder of Hope Ranch - COTA/L

Maria has been a COTA/L clinician for 20 years. She is employed at Memorial Hospital, BJC, Belleville, IL and currently works at Neurosciences and Orthopedic rehab services outpatient services for pediatric and adult population. She is a member of the American Hippotherapy Association, certified in LSVT BIG program and Interactive Metronome and has been a volunteer in the past at a hippotherapy facility.

Patricia Frederick
Administrative Director

Patricia is an Ordained Minister and Missionary leading and teaching people about the power and majesty of Jesus and the relationship that He desires with each of us. Patricia has taught children of all ages about the Lord and serves as a spiritual mentor to countless number of parents and searching souls. Patricia also founded her own ministry, assists with various other not for profits and supports multiple ministries in both administration and spiritual guidance. Within Hope Ranch, Patricia oversees the ethical and moral character of Hope Ranch as well as guides those who are in need. She also serves as the Administrative Director pro tem.

Michelle Gysbers
Office Administrator

Michelle has more than 20 years-experience working with children and parents in many capacities, including therapeutic environments, education and ministry. She has worked in drug and alcohol treatment centers in Missouri and Michigan, creating and implementing parenting programs. She has her Masters in Organizational Management, specializing in Non-Profits. She is currently working for Special School District in the St. Louis area. Within Hope Ranch, Michelle is the Office Administrator and fills various other roles as needed.

Lisa Deterding
Project & Event Coordinator

Lisa has been a dedicated and technically skilled business professional with a versatile skill set developed through experience as an administrative and executive assistant for over 30+ years. She is currently working for Team Med Global Healthcare Consulting located in Glen Carbon, IL. Within Hope Ranch, Lisa is the Project & Event Coordinator. She enjoys being a part of this amazing team to carry out the vision of Hope Ranch.
